A point-of-sale system is the one piece of software your staff will touch hundreds of times a day. Choose it on fundamentals, not screenshots.
1. Compliance is table stakes
If a vendor describes ZATCA as an 'add-on' or 'coming soon', walk away. Ask to see a cleared B2B invoice and a reported B2C invoice in their demo.
2. Payments that Saudis actually use
mada is the majority of card transactions in the Kingdom; Apple Pay and STC Pay follow. Integrated terminals mean the amount is sent to the terminal automatically and reconciled at day end.
3. Arabic as a first language
Check receipts, product names, reports and the staff screens. 'Translated' menus with English-only reports waste your accountant's time.
4. Offline mode
Connectivity drops. Your POS must keep selling and queue signed invoices for later reporting within ZATCA's 24-hour window.
5. Hardware freedom
Avoid systems locked to one proprietary terminal. Windows, Android, iPad and all-in-one units should all work with standard printers and scanners.
6. Support you can reach
Ask for the support WhatsApp number and send a message at 9 pm. The response time tells you everything.
Saudia Incorp ticks all six. Compare plans or book a demo.
